Ahh man, thank you for the shout-out!!! I'm very humbled to be part of this community and to also consider you a friend. Just like you I LOVE this hobby and want everyone to experience the "game changing" excitement of a DOF Reality rig and I'm so glad you are still enjoying it a year later. I honestly can't imagine flying without it now, it has become that integral of an element for me. I will say I think the "cogging" issue has gotten WAY overblown and honestly with my Buttkicker going I hardly feel it when it does occur, so I'm with you, it is good enough even in it's current state, and with DOF looking into it, I bet they make it better at some point down the road. So sincerely thank you for mentioning me and as always if I can help anyone out there with questions, please don't hesitate to ask! -Mark

A quick comment: In your videos, the motion simulator seat seems to move and stay in the same direction as the airplane's roll during turns. If that is the case, your body would lean in the same direction as the plane's roll, which would produce a very unnatural feel. In a real plane, your body would first lean opposite to the plane's roll, then reverts to a position vertical to the seat once centrifugal forces come into play. This would require the seat to first lean in a direction opposite to the plane's roll, followed by a slow return to vertical during the turn. I might be wrong, but I think this is how the big motion simulators do it.

You and Mark convinced me with your first videos, and I got myself a 6DOF rig. It takes a while to fine tune all settings in SRS, but once done, this platform is an absolute blast, a game changer indeed. For GA and airliner flying, I think it is best to tune the motion down quite a bit, in particular the roll axis. The brain just needs motion cues, and the DOFR platforms deliver these beautifully. I don’t think that they are very good for simulating aerobatics, but there is a reason why the professional sims cost millions, not thousands…
The cogging issue exists, but can be masked with a butt kicker (which I consider a must anyways, if total immersion is what you‘re after). Curious what the DOFR anti cogging hw solution consists of, and if it can improve the overall experience. But I‘m a happy camper even today :-)@danmoretti88984 месяца назад

can nothing add to your Video. Purchased my H2 ,i guess, a few weeks later from your first Video. This thing is sturdy as hell, I packed, i dont know, easy 50kg on stuff on it and no problems. Stutters are a lil noticeable but with my Jetseat Pad arent a Problem.
Maintenance is not really a thing. Put some grease on the Joint and the Ballspindles and its done. i guess you havent to do either. The only thing than can maybe brake some time is the joint and maybe a motor. But i guess the motors have so less stress their gonna go forever. The Joint i guess is easily found as 3rd Party Part, even a massive one.
And i love my H2 even that i figured out Motion Comp completly a few weeks ago. And now its even more awesome. Ive added all the accessories possible to my Rig like Belt Tensioner, Wind Kit and of course a Direct Drive Wheel. Because in Sim Racing, with the Tensioner, Driving a F40 or GT3 Car is something other than flying but wow!!!! Going down the Eue Rouge, Wind is blowing to my Chest, Rig is moving and down in the valley the Belt kicks you in the Seat.
Configured this weekend all my Warbirds in DCS and what an experience with Motion Comp working. Those old Birds are shaking on Taxi like hell, accelerating for takeoff you feel the plane and can correct its way and up. Helicopter flying isnt descripable. As soon as the Huey is of the ground you feel its whobbling through the air.

I'm very much on the fence about getting a motion rig. I just had a couple of questions I was hoping you might be able to answer in one of your videos unless you already did and I just missed it. What is the telemetry output like in most major flight sims? I'm talking like Microsoft flight simulator 2020 is obviously very good. Is DCS exactly the same in terms of the responsiveness? How about xplane, IL2 sturmovic, il2 cliffs of Dover. How about older Sims like Falcon 4.0 or space Sims like elite dangerous?
@GYGOtv4 месяца назад +2
Hi, since Steve mentioned me in his video I'm trying to throw my 2 cents in until he replies. Telemetry in IL2, MSFS2020 and DCS is really good and Elite Dangerous might be one of my favorite experiences in the motion rig all together. That being said, I don't think any of the telemetry is perfect and sometimes you get some weirdness (like elite as a bug when you come out of warp it throws you forward really hard), but you can tune that stuff to your liking in SRS and that is what makes this so great. One of the BEST things is even if the software doesn't send telemetry, you can use the joystick emulation option with a premium SRS account and basically with the movement of the joystick you will move in pitch, roll and yaw. I have to use this method in Star Wars Squadrons, and even though it doesn't have any other effects... it is still a very immersive experience. You could also use that for older sims like Falcon or whatever you want. Hope that helps. -Mark

@GYGOtv4 месяца назад
Not an official fix yet but honestly it isn't that big a deal... I recommend a transducer like a buttkicker and it will mask that feeling for the most part (it only happens on VERY slow turns). DOF generally includes upgrades on a regular basis so I think once they develop a solution it will be standard on all new units is my guess.

@drpenguin574 месяца назад +1
I bought an H2 after I saw his original review. I feel like it performs best in sim racing vs flight sim, mostly due to the slight stepping-motion when turning slowly, but flight sims are still way better with the motion than without. I also found that it felt laggy in MSFS until i set the motion from "pitch" to "rate" in sim racing studio. Not sure why that made a difference
@GYGOtv4 месяца назад +2
These things were originally made for racing so that is REALLY where they shine. I actually think the H6 is more of a must for racing than for flight TBH. Feeling the road noise, having the surge when you accelerate and having the sway when you sideswipe a guardrail or another car is REALLY a jolting experience. I haven't noticed any lag in the racing I've done and you can also tune these things extensively to make it match your expectations. Hope that helps.

I'll throw my 2 cents in until Steve can answer. 330 shouldn't be an issue with the SFU drives. I've had some pretty big guys in my rig and it is fine. Might not move a quickly as with a light person, but still works fine and doesn't seem to overload the motors. I would recommend the gas struts if you go with an H6, they help raise the rig up quicker so that can't be a bad thing. I would absolutely recommend upgrading to an H3 and possibly an H6 depending on what you are looking for. The H2/H3 has a little more movement for pitch and roll, but the awesomeness of the Heave on the H6 when you land (and you HIT the ground) is so incredible. The thing I don't like on these motion rigs is that the forces don't represent the real ones in a real aircraft. I want to feel the G forces, not have the chair leaning on the same direction of the aircraft. You don't get trown side to side on a curve like that, unless when using the rudder or some bumps on the ground. When you turn you just feel back and butt pressure so it should just lean backwards. The same thing I want to feel during takeoff and clib, I need it to lean heavily during takeoff to simulate those G forces. I love the approach from the guys at YAW VR 2, just don't think I trust the product just yet...
@VRFlightSimGuy 4 месяца назад +3
From my experience in real aircraft, it feels damn close. You can configure the motion rig to behave in many different ways. When I get catapulted off a carrier, or thunder down a runway (even in a powerful GA aircraft), you really feel the acceleration.
@hanskrohn4 месяца назад +2
That can be remedied in the SRS software. I have my roll axis set to „angle“ and turned way down. So I don’t get the unnecessary roll motion in a coordinated turn. Once dialed in correctly, these platforms are a blast to fly. And with motion, the most important thing is: less is more…
