Outlets aren't like our regular stores.
Clothing and housewares that aren't sold at our typical Goodwill stores are made available at the Goodwill Outlet. The store isn't set up like a usual store. Items are placed in bins throughout the store.
Do Goodwill donations stay local? ›
Will my donation stay in our area? All sellable items are offered for sale in our local stores. Items that are not sold within a reasonable period of time might be sold to bulk purchasers. The revenue generated from these sales is used to help local people find employment.

If donated clothing isn't laundered, chances are it may need disposal which defeats the purpose entirely. Even if they're slightly worn out or torn — always wash them first. Other humans will handle these clothes extensively; clean donations show respect.

While we can't guarantee recovery, we will make every effort to locate and return your accidental donation. Please note that some donations may be processed for sale the same day that they are received. We are unable to recover sold items.
Why should you wash clothes from Goodwill? ›
Donations are typically washed before they're donated, but we still recommend giving them a good cleaning when you get home. Even if the clothes are washed before they hit the thrift store floor, people will have since touched them. The same can be said even if you were buying new.
How often should you go to the same thrift store? ›
That being said, furniture items are not going to be stocked at frequently at the thrift store as clothing (in my personal experience), so it's probably not necessary to go to each specific store more than once a week.
