A man is charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors after recklessly driving through Burlington, fleeing officers, hitting several cars and damaging property.
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A man is charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors after recklessly driving through Burlington, fleeing officers, hitting several cars and damaging property.
Burlington police say around noon Friday, they received a report of a beige Ford F-250 operating erratically, in the area of riverside avenue.
They say they later identified that driver as 48-year-old Thomas O’Halloran.
Several more calls of the truck came in - even hitting a house on Manhattan Dr.
Police tried to stop the car on Riverside Ave, but O’Halloran swerved - striking parked vehicles - and escaped.
The truck was briefly hung up on a gravestone at St. Joseph’s cemetery and police caught up.
That did not end the chase however - he reversed, hit a Burlington cruiser and eventually got stuck in a ditch and fled on foot, but police apprehended him.
O’Halloran was charged with several felonies and misdemeanors including aggravated assault with deadly weapon, multiple leaving scene of accidents and simple assault on a police officer - because police say O’Halloran bit an officer while in custody.
He is being held on $10,000 bail and will appear in court on Monday morning.
